The objective of this project is to create easy-to-build, inexpensive (under $2,000
around $500) rapid prototyping machine that would build 3D objects from
waste paper such as used printer paper, newspapers, yellow pages,
marketing brochures, junk mail, and possibly packaging cardboard.
The project is inspired by Fab@Home and RepRap machines. Unlike Fab@Home and RepRap that build actual plastic objects, the Paper Prototyper would only be capable of building object models. However, such a model can be used as a mold for casting the object from a number of materials including wax, foam, silicone rubbers, resins such as Alumilite, and metal via wax investment casting.
