Anti-backlash Delrin nut

Few weeks ago, I tested anti-backlash Delrin nut. It's basically a split nut made from 5/8" dia Delrin rod. It works pretty well - in the drilling contraption backlash was reduced from about 75 to about 25 steps. I was hoping it would eliminate backlash completely, and I think it it would help if the axis was shorter. I think in 32" long axis there is plenty of room to accumulate tension in the aluminum rail and 1/4" leadscrew. There are also other things such as bearings that can be responsible for the remaining backlash.

Description of how the nut is made is here, more pictures are here. One bad thing about this nut is - because of the location of the adjustment screw, it's virtually impossible to adjust backlash on the assembled axis - to do it, the rail should be removed from the sliding element.

Among other things, I started making perforated angle on the drill press, using a template jig. Once the template is in correct alignment, drilling process is pretty easy and quick. Drilling contraption does the job, but it's slow and tedious. Still, it's lightweight and can be used if the drill press is not available or undesirable (e.g. apartment).
