As a table, I used a cutting mat on top of 1" layer of PE foam, fixed in place by Scotch tape.

A 14"x17" HDPE cutting board can be used as a table. 4 captive nuts can be mounted to the base to keep it in place and adjust it relative to the horizontal plane.
